initial proposal

Institution: Conde nast is an American media company founded in 1909 by Condé Montrose Nast. The company attract more than 84 million consumers in print, 366 million in digital and 384 million across social platforms including Allure, Architectural Digest, Ars Technica, Backchannel, Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler, Epicurious, Glamour, GQ, Pitchfork, Self, Teen Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Wired.  I have chosen Condé Nast to publish my magazine as it is very popular and well known for publishing high end magazine brands .

Representation: I would like to represent my magazine in a positive way as most magazine brands sexualise women in order to get an audience and gain more customers. I would like to represent my magazine by showing the different types of fashion that can be used as some women view and interpret fashion in their own ways so can appeal to many women.  I would also like to present the idea that people can express them self through clothes and show how they express fashion in their own way.

Codes and conventions: In my magazine i will provide for my audience the most recent trends, outfits ideas, different ways that you can use fashion and more. This will appeal to the audience as now more people like to keep up with society’s trends and follow people who they aspire to be like due to the fear of standing out. I would like my magazine to not only be entertaining but also be helpful to maybe newcomers to the whole fashion aspect. On a typical known magazine eg vogue or elle you would usually see a beautiful well known celebrity on the front cover with the usual sell lines ‘50 great dresses for a night out’.

Genre: The genre for my magazine that I have chosen will be winter fashion. I will mostly be targeting women however a fraction will be aimed for men as well. I have chosen winter fashion as my genre because i  myself love winter outfit looks and am always looking for winter looks each year. I have chosen to start my target audience from 16 as again i love shopping for clothes and also love having nice warm outfits for christmas time.

Audience:  My audience that I will be targeting is women aged between 16 and 35 and social status of ABC1 which includes middle class people as my magazine is high street fashion.
