Planning of genre and audience

Planning for my genre:

To plan for my genre I firstly looked at many different types of magazine, this included sport, music, fashion, film, teen, gossip and health. I identified which genre would be the simplest to create meaning appeal to me more and which I knew more about. For me the magazine I like to read to are gossip, teen and fashion as they all can appeal to me more. so i then chose fashion as my genre of my magazine as I love reading fashion magazines and I know what the audience would want from it and how I can make it appeal to them more. The genre I chose was high street women’s fashion.

Planning for my target audience:

Again I done some research on what the most popular target audience is for a fashion magazine and what ages fashion appeals to more. looking at magazine like vogue, Elle and cosmopolitan for example I had worked out that the age ranges for all are around 16- 35 year olds. As I am within that age range I decided to make my target audience for my fashion magazine 16-30 year old women as I can identify their needs and wants.
